The Impact of Christian Hip-Hop with Jeremiah Nouel

Christian hip-hop artist Jeremiah Nouel is making a positive impact in Orlando, Florida through the music he creates for God. He describes how his music has altered the lives of those he has influenced.
According to GoodNewsFlorida, the influence that gospel hip-hop has on urban youth across South Florida is steadily growing and cultivating with a vibrant Christian hip-hop scene.

“When it comes to music, the way I mirror Jesus is taking a whole different approach on Christian hip-hop. I label myself a worshiper, I’m a worship leader because I take a different approach to Christian hip-hop. We have to be worshipers, Psalmists. People who are trying to get people convicted and spread that message of God, Jesus of the Gospel. For me, I don’t want to just make a song that people can bop their heads to. I would rather for someone to start to cry of hearing a rap song of mine because I want people to feel the message. That’s why I take a whole different approach,” said Jeremiah.

The majority of artists believe that hip-hop is more than just music; it’s a culture and a potent medium for self-expression and narrative. According to hip-hop artist Swazy, who opened up about her experiences in an article titled: Artistes urged to collaborate, build audience support of Hip-hop industry, written by The Chronicle, the community doesn’t have a deep comprehension of hip-hop. Some communities wonder if Christianity and hip-hop can coexist because hip-hop has a strong association with drugs and profanity. Hip-hop has a lack of industry representation and financial constraints as key obstacles to progress in a religious setting.
